Craft Lesson 7

Pennypacker: Stuart's Cape

Topic: "Superheros"

Discussion: Even though factual ideas are important in the development of young children, fiction is also important as well as fun and entertaining. Sometimes children learn more through the use of fictional stories and books.

How to Teach it:
After reading the book, allow the children to individually braistorm and create their own idea of a superhero they want to be. Then, have them draw their hero and then make up a short story to go with this character. As an extended lesson, have the children actually make their superhero costume (with the help of their parent. of course), and present it (along with their story) during Show and Tell.
