Craft Lesson 4

Dr. Seuss: My Many Colored Days

Topic: How Many Colors Can You Make?

Discussion: (Individual Work: Kindergarten)
This lesson will allow the children to create their own colors. Because this book shows many colorful photos, the children can get an idea of how many different colors exist. Not only is this lesson educational, but fun because the children will actually get their hands dirty.

How to Teach it:
1. Read the book
2. Ask the children to point out the different colors they notice in the book as you go through the book.
3. Demonstrate how when mixed, colors can make another different color. (For example, red and yellow make orange)
4. Allow the children to make a collage of colors by having them make orange, green, pink, purple. Then, ask them to make and name their own colors independantly different from the ones they've already made.
5. Hang their collages outside.
