Tunnel/Jacobs: Children’s Literature Briefly
The information provided in this book is not only interesting but very informative as well. In the following, I will highlight the points that were of most interest to me.
Ch 1: A reader can respond differently to the same book because the different ways that a book could be read allow for the reader to perceive and experience the book differently. Also, reading the book at different times allow for the reading experience to change as well. The statement that said that "...being able to read, but not doing so is the same as not being able to read..." really touched me because it made me realize what a waste it is to not take the time to enjoy a good book. Another statement that is true is the one that says "For reading to make a difference, it has to be personal." The person reading makes a better connection with the subject area they are reading when they can relate to it.
Ch 4: Illustrations serve the purpose of intensifying the reading experience. I really enjoyed looking at the different illustrations provided here. They are all interesting in there own special way.

I completely understand what you mean about wanting to find that passion in reading again! I was always the kid hiding under the covers with a flashlight so I could read without my parents telling me to go to sleep!
I think with school and busy lifestyles it keeps us from trying to enjoy reading as a leisure. Hopefully once you finish with school and get into the groove of the "real world" you will be able to find the time for reading. It's exactly like you (and the book) say, that reading but not using that as a tool is a waste!
